About Me

I'm Siobhan, 23 and currently reside in London, England.

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes aged 2 years, 11 months and 19 days, on April 19th 1991. I started off on 2 injections a day on Actrapid whilst I was 'honeymooning', then moved into Novomix 30, then Humilin M3, then Mixtard 30 - all of those twice a day! I was on multiple daily injections from October 2006, using Lantus and Novorapid. I secured funding for an insulin pump in March 2011 and currently use a black Animas 2020, after 6 months 'trialling' a purple Medtronic.

20 years later, and I feel that I am still learning about type one every day. Type 1 is a very individual condition, and no two people with it are the same - we treat everything it throws at us differently, as we all have very different needs. What works for me will not work for you!

Being part of the diabetes community is hugely important to me - being type one can be a very lonely condition! Please feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions, want to talk about something I have posted about, or anything else that crosses your mind.
